Statistics from the International Mission Board confirm that only a small number of minority ethnic groups (African, Hispanic, and Asian Americans) are serving as international missionaries. We want to be a part of changing that reality.
The extreme underrepresentation reveals that solutions must go beyond the simple answers of historical and socioeconomic factors. These troubling statistics call for Great Commission resurgence in minority communities that is tailored to engage the needs of undertaking international missions from non-dominant culture.
The KDMI seeks to spark a Great Commission resurgence among multicultural Christians by creating a platform to catalyze minority believers to the ends of the earth and integrate a passion for international missions into their current and future areas of service. This platform comes through making opportunities available for short term missions exposure.
Who can apply?
Minority American students.
Minority American pastors/ministry leaders who have never been on a short-term mission trip. If accepted, leaders must apply as a non-degree seeking student.
Those who serve on mission teams serving non-Western people groups domestically or internationally.

When can I sign up?
There is no application period, applications are accepted all year. However, we only offer orientation four (4) times a year on the first Friday of the following months: February, April, September, and November. Please consider the time needed to secure a passport and financial support when applying.
What is the Process?
Orientation- Upon acceptance into the program, participants must attend an orientation that walks the students through the KDMI process. Meetings will be held on the first Friday of the following months: February, April, September and November. Attendance is required before moving to the next step in the process. Please contact the CGCS for meeting times and location.

Securing a Passport- If you do not have a passport, KDMI participants will secure one with assistance of the CGCS staff. The cost of securing the passport will be offset by KDMI.
Each student is personally responsible for 100% of the deposit amount (10% of the trip cost) by the date posted by the CGCS.
Seven weeks before the trip, the student is responsible for raising 25% of the total trip (including the deposit). After reaching 25%, KDMI will match the funds raised.
Three weeks before the trip, the student is responsible for raising an additional 25% of the total trip cost. After raising the second 25%, KDMI will match those funds.
In summary, the student is responsible for raising 50% of the trip cost and KDMI will match the funds raised.
4. Team Meetings– One major obstacle for churches and ministries beginning a Great Commission DNA is knowing the practical steps for planning a mission trip. KDMI participants will have a “behind the scenes” look at the mission trip planning process.

The goal of KDMI is to begin the life-long task of integrating a DNA of international missions into the ministry of each participant. Upon their return from the mission trip, each participant will complete a project that will integrate the DNA of international missions into the type of ministry they anticipate God calling them into.
The integration project requires that students identify four aspects within their area of calling and integrate missions into each aspect of kingdom service. Each section will be 200 to 250 words. For example, a senior pastor could consider how missions can be integrated into pastoral care, pulpit ministry, church structure planning, and church planting. Please see a well written example here
